GOODBYES

I have always wondered at the futility
of these little nothings;
A peck on the cheek and tears in eyes,
the lover of a lover bids her lover adieu.
Starting at the place from where both planes and dreams fly
May her lover find his place, his soul's cry.

She looks into the ocean of ambitions in his eyes,
his desires assuage her cries,
in no time the airplane will fly :
Over continents unknown
her love will rise,to reach its destination,
to the man she loves with all her might.

I wish for that innocent little heart that thumps in her chest:
May her beloved love her
till eternities together.
For travel you might to places far
compared to a heart filled with unconditional love,
nothing in this world comes at par.

THE MARK OF A FOODIE

STATUTORY WARNING: Read this article ONLY when your tummy is full, or else you might get transformed into a ravenous  human, who makes a headway for the nearest available food item or goes to any extent to get his or her fair share of samosas, pizzas , chocolate cake etc.

If  one of the things that can stimulate  you to leave your bed and wake up, is either a hot cup of tea ginger, elaichi, tulsi or any other flavour, served piping hot with poha, bread and butter or simply, daalmoth  or freshly brewed coffee, all frothy, creamy, and complete with its customary wisps of vapour--
Shake hands, kyunki aap foodie hain
Welcome to your brethren,
If your parents have gone to a marriage party, and you have kept awake just to ask them the variety of dishes and sweetdishes  that were served, including the inevitable, triangle shaped paneer pieces dipped in a savoury curry, aap foodie hain  :)

Whenever you are feeling down and out, has your body automatically, even in that state of dejection, lumbered  towards the heaven of a  foodie ”the fridge”, your hand automatically, has gone inside it and yes, yes  in auto mode unknowingly  you have gulped down the leftover slices of a pizza, guzzled  down a can of coke, had that chocolate pastry after an imaginary fight between your brain and heart and finally, in which the stomach and tastebuds always win :P :P
Yes you are right:  Aap foodie hain.
Have you ever felt like asking mom to make the veritable ”hari dhaniya ki chutney” whenever she has made arhar ki dal and chawal?
Have you ever pined in the middle of an ongoing lecture, for the yummy, scrumptious  masaaledaar aloo ka samosa which at that very moment is sitting in the canteen’s kitchen oblivious that someone at that very moment is yearning for it unendingly?

Have you sometimes wanted Maggi  so bad, that you have actually not waited to cook it, and have had the noodles right from the packet, ignoring the warning that is recorded in your mind in mom’s voice ”aur kuchcha magi khao, pet mein dard hoga”, but you have given a toss of your head and let the noodles uncooked go munch munch in your mouth,(and yes, if chewed nicely ,they never give a stomachache :P :P )

In short if 60% of your happiness exists or can be created :)  by taking you to any of the places given below like McDonalds,(no wonder its called the happy meal), Dominoes,KFC,Pizza Hut, Baskin Robbins, Cocoberry outlets and you have different haunts in your city for different kinds of delicacies like.. kebabs to tundey ke hi khayenge, biryani wahid ki hi achi hai, samose yahan ke, Chinese us restaurant ka, chilli chicken to bas vahi banana janta hai...
sounds familiar??
Yeah right...

Aap  duniya ke gine chune khush logon mein se ek hain, kyunki dost, sab chale jayenge par khana hamesha  rehta hai, a slice of pizza with mozzarella and liquid cheese oozing out of the bread’s every pore along with a dash of chilli flakes and oregano bursting and melting simultaneously in every gustatory pore you have in your tongue is a free ticket to heaven.
Bon app├ętit  :) :)

DISCS OF SUNLIGHT

 DISCS OF SUNLIGHT

As a chubby, podgy  child,
I  often used to watch sunlight,
I crawled on fours for those discs of light
Round circles of molten sunlight
I tried a lot, but never tasted success.
They were reflections of transparent dials,
And rounded objects, but back then,
They seemed quite heartless.
They were elusive and played games with a cute little child
Even as a toddler I realised, that there is life,
Even in light.
Back then, I wanted  to catch it
And to  trap those roundels in a glass jar capped tight
so that at night, I have my personal star
By my bedside.
As I grew older, I thought such is life,
We try to catch it like I used to catch the discs of light...
The difference is just this-
The discs are days
and the light is Life.

A HAPPY GIRL IS NOT A MYTH

The movie Pyar ka punchnama had a dialogue which became very famous, “A happy woman is a myth” :) hmm,I heard that entire dialogue very carefully, and laughed my heart out.. when my hysterical laughter abated then I realised that whatever that guy had said was partially TRUE and for some girls completely true;) .Now now, I am no advocate for mens’ rights, but seriously I do care for women and I want to tell every mummy, girlfriend, chachi ,bhabhi , saas, biwi etc that “TAKE CONTROL OF YOURSELF AND NOT OF YOUR bhai, pati, beta etc”. The most important thing for a woman today is to be happy, naa, not with her bf/hubby but without him ———–yes trust me this is the secret of a happy YOU which equals a happy relationship and thereby a happy family. We women are very emotional and extremely soft hearted , for our hubby, bf, even for that special friend but girl, why are we always misunderstood as nagging, demanding, possessive bloodthirsty vampires who have no other work to do except become the GPS for our man? The problem runs deep : since childhood we are ingrained with this fact that “ab pati hi tumhara sansaar hai”, etc etc An Indian woman is mind, heart and body trained to think of herself as a gift(item of utility) for her husband and nothing else……. and so when this beautiful ,caring and sensitive woman enters that threshold of her life when she finds her prince charming the entire gamut of latent emotions of extreme love, selflessness, possession become active our sweet pretty and charming girl gives up herself completely to that one guy, all her life now revolves around him, she readily gives up a few things she loved to accept all that he loves, she is so selfless, that she completely adjusts to her new AND ONLY ROLE as a biwi or a gf and then begins the horrible lambasting from her beau- (its the same sorry story for everyone)

Tum kyun meri jaan khaati rehti ho?

Busy hun baad mein call karta hun

Arrey yaar hadd hai kitni aur kya baat karun

Haan haan i love u too(jaan chodo meri)

Nahi ,bahar hun doston ke saath kal baat karenge

Kya problem, kya hai tumhari

Jaan, tv dekh lo, ghoom aao, kuch padh lo

In short deviji kuch bhi karo meri jaan chodo ;)

<<<<<<sounds familiar THEN CHANGE IT!!!

I know u love your guy your hubby he is your everything your world but here I’d like to present a few facts :

It doesn’t matter if u have the best guy in the world trust me there is 1 person whom u ought to love more than him and that is –YOU.

You have married him or are in a relationship with him but u do not own him, he has his circle of friends who hold an important place in his life yes yes along with u, but what abt u?

U need to let go of your hubby or your bf he was alive and kicking even when u were not there in his life, aint it?

I am not telling you to do this as an act of vengeance -do it as an act of love, true, unadulterated, unwavering pure rock solid love and u will see that its very easy to be possessive what is tough is to grant him the space he needs and what is of vital importance is to give your being the space u as an individual have every right to get. So contrary to what u have been trained for here is a quicklist to revamp your relationship and invigorate it with the essence of true 24 carat love:

  1. You have to find and then do things that make YOU HAPPY:

Some options to get u started:

Visit an orphanage, buy flowers for yourself, go shopping with your girlfriends or even alone, pick up a good read, take a spa , do gardening, chill out, hang out, dance, scream rejoice for just being yourself.

2. STOP PESTERING your hubby or bf, enough of a satellite you have been, once you become happy all by yourself u wont even believe how very happy your bf or hubby will become

P.S. –there is a real dearth of damsels who are really happy from within, he will respect and love u more take my word for it

3. DO NOT track his whereabouts, he is an individual who has every right to live the life he wants to, your tracking doesn’t help anyone, not even you, eventually he will do what he wants to there is no stopping it and if he has you in his life, he has damn good judgement ,sense and choice so no worries :D

4. LOVE with all your heart and without any expectation, if he doesn’t take you out for shopping this weekend no issues , if he dint pick your call and dint respond in the next 3 hrs of that missed call no issues, he must have been busy, don’t yell, keep calm and chillax (holds true even when u r down and out<pun intended>)

5. You are first responsible to yourself. Girl you have immense power and potential– your emotions use them constructively god has given u feelings and sentiments their entire purpose cannot be JUST TO KEEP A TAB OF UR BF/HUBBY .They have a bigger purpose………. find it mine is writing yours maybe dancing, swimming, acting, anything under the sun but its definitely not just your bf/hubby. :P

6. A plea to you all for God’s sake don’t become the typical biwi /gf :

Please let loose, let go ,enjoy, laugh out loud and that’s when you will truly and totally falsify the myth that

“A HAPPY GIRL IS A MYTH”

GIRLS ROCK(Y)

(feel free to share it with all the other beautiful females- liberate and let live, hope each one of you finds her eternal source of inner happiness, independent of everything)

LONELINESS

 http://smriti198719.files.wordpress.com/2014/05/images.jpg

She stood at the doorway,
Waiting for him to return
He had promised he’d come.
A tear trickled on its solitary
Journey down that fair cheek,
The kohl lined eyes welled
Up with a warning of impending deluge
Tears trickled incessantly,
But he didn’t come.

She had imagined a thousand excuses,
Made up to herself for his coming late,
Had brought herself presents on his behalf
To smother her own anger
Lest she break apart-
But all this she had done to calm herself
All the while thinking
What was making him so late.
She finally decided that
If he apologizes thrice,
she will forgive him and
seal his lips with a kiss.

She looked out of the window
With a gaze full of expectation
But instead of him she saw a procession
In which he came but he did not:
For no one could carry him in totality,
So they got his body
And the soul they sent to God
To keep till eternity.

THE LETHAL CROSSROADS- DO YOU HAVE A CAREER OR ARE YOU PURSUING YOUR CALLING?

(the difference between just a career and your CALLING is what this blog is all about)
HAPPY READING!!!!
There  are only a few stages in one’s life which can be compared to this crucial stage:
When you have got your class 12 result...(and you have passed)
Now its the career choice that you or rather your parents (read the entire neighbourhood and a few close relatives )make, lets  face it, at 18 one hardly has the good sense, experience and maturity to choose something as big as a career, wisely. I am not talking about those select few who are absolutely sure of what they want to become, we all have amidst us those cousins, friends etc  who are future Ram Jethmalanis , Hippocrates reincarnated, Shakespeare personified and are pretty sure of what they want to be, they also have the skill, perseverance, dedication and diligence to realise their calling and their destiny but these dhamaakedar prodigies are very few and far between. 90% of us are absolutely clueless regarding this issue of utmost importance, these students are either blindfoldedly  living the expectations of someone else or are a victim of the herd mentality and by the time they do realise their true calling a lot of them have kids of their own, end result- akhand frustration.
Now, I am no authority to speak on this very important and pressing issue but even as boards end this year and thousands of young minds are thrust into the bottleneck  where only a few will emerge as truly accomplished(in the eyes of the world)  I just want to reach out to them and tell them a few things, things that I did not  know back then , things that I learnt after paying a heavy price emotionally, mentally and physically. Here’s  my story, I was a bright student  who wanted to pursue English Literature as my career ,when I was in class 12, I was faced with the same dilemma of choosing the path of my heart or succumbing to the oft  trod secure path, I chose the latter, not a very big mistake as per my age but I blame no one not even me for my career choice, so I went on to become a dentist and after 6 years of studying the enamel  coated dentine containing thousands of blood vessels, battling it out with Chlamydomonas, fretting over the shape of the central incisor carved in wax, losing my sleep, health, hair over physiology, anatomy, orthodontics, periodontics and in short everything under the sun about the seemingly insignificant 32 of the smile battalion I realised I WAS MISERABLE AS A DENTIST, not because I was bad at handling patients or anything, but I WAS NOT HAPPY, I was not happy bending wires, adjusting braces, making dentures, cleaning cavities, the profession is very noble, I have nothing against it, I love spreading smiles just that my path of spreading smiles is through teaching and writing :P Different strokes for different folks. There are happy dentists who do great work, there are happy lawyers, businessmen, engineers happy people all have one thing in common they have followed their heart, I don’t know why and how but it knows  from the very start where you should be and here I will not call it career but calling. A few brainstorming  questions  I have found very helpful in telling me what I want to be are these:
WHAT IS THAT ONE THING YOU CAN DO HAPPILY, GLADLY  CONTINUOUSLY  WITHOUT REALISING WHERE TIME HAS FLOWN?
WHAT IS THAT ONE THING YOU CAN HAPPILY CONTINUE TO DO FOR 7 TO 8 HRS EVERYDAY FROM TODAY TILL THE END OF YOUR LIFE?
WHAT IS THAT ONE THING WHERE YOUR HEART AND A MEANS OF EARNING  MONEY  JOIN?
WHAT IS YOUR CALLING?
And trust me, after these soul searching questions if you feel  like Remy, the mouse in "Ratatouille”, or have the urge of picking up the camera and pursuing  photography DO IT. Dont think too much, realise your calling and then follow your passion, then do not compromise, if you want to become a fashion designer, work really hard, clear the entrance, reach the best college, study your passion and let the world see what immense potential lies in you, then the world will be your canvas where your free spirit will paint the picture of your dreams and then these very people who doubted your ability of being successful will applaud and say ”main jaanta tha ki ye bacha kuch alag hai” :D

So here’s wishing  you all the love and luck as you set sail in the ocean of possibilities, stay true to yourself that’s the secret, in the end sab khush ho jayenge, lekin agar apne kaam se khush nahi ho aap, to chahein kitni hi Audi ,Bmw  kyun na le lo, dil ka ek kona hamesha kahega ki kaash is family business ke bajaaye paint brush utha liya hota, ek chote se apartment ko studio bana kar himalay ki tasveer bana kar shayad is se zyada khush hota main. RISE UP, don’t succumb to societal pressures, paisa sab kama lete hain, shaadi sabki ho jaati hai,bas ek cheez hai jo sabko nahi milti and that is happiness. And yes, this blog has not been written after  watching 3 idiots it is written by someone who has lived that movie’s ethos.
Feel free to share this blog, I want to tell every youngster my story so that he or she does not suffer and  avoids the chaos and pathos that I had to face, listen to your heart, it somehow already knows where the treasure of your happiness is buried.
P.S. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU IN TELLING A FEW PEOPLE WHO MATTER THAT YOU KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO BE AND NO SHARMA, VERMA OR WHATEVER HIS SURNAME IS KA SON OR DAUGHTER CAN BE YOUR IDOL, YOU ARE YOUNIQUE, AND THAT’S THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO BE :) :)
